I went to one of my favorite swapmeets on Friday and found this darling Underwood Typewriter. In perfect condition. When I asked the seller how much it was, he said $5.00 ;D I learned to type on one of these many many moons ago My Dad used to take me into the work with him at the military base and I used to type up his memos for him. This brings back so many wonderful memories for me. It does need to have a new ribbon and I am looking for one. As soon as I find it, I am going to type a love letter to my Dad Attachments:

Ahh Vintage Girl......You find the most unique things. I have an electric typewriter, lol, and I thought that was old. How sweet to type a letter to your dad. My mom has told me many times that her brother, when he was in the service, could type something like 75 words per minute on one of those. That was his job then...boy, I thought I was a good typist, but not on one of these. lol

Great find! And I love the idea of writing your dad the letter:). You will surely think of him every time you look at that typewriter.
I learned to type on a manual typewriter and could type pretty fast. Of course, the electric was faster when I got one of those. I had a job as a typist for a year after high school. I sure am thankful for word processors, though--no more white-out or those little typewriter erasers, LOL! Unfortunately, I cannot say no more typing mistakes, LOL!

O my goodness--- What a sweet thought to type your Dad a letter. Very very sweet. '
I remember when you Father passed away. He sounded like such a wonderful person. I'm glad you had a nice day with your husband and your adorable little pups. Each day is so precious with the ones we love.

Awesome find! I learned to type on a old manual typewriter. Heck, it was old when I got it from my older sister! I loved that it had a red ribbon so I could emphasize certain words while I was typing out the fanfiction my thirteen year old self was writing! I'd probably never use one of them again, but it would be fun to have one on display like yours. You always find the neatest stuff!

Back then, those old manual typewriters must have kept our finger muscles strong! I remember how easy electric typewriters seemed, by comparison. I don't think it was an Underwood, but just yesterday I saw a similar vintage typewriter for $40 at the consignment shop where I bring things. Great find!
