Hello everyone. It has been so slow on here. I feel like I come and walk around a big, empty, house, whenever I am on the forum. I miss hearing from everyone. Not that I have done much better--just can't think of anything to post.
Now that summer has come to an end, do any of you have any big decorating plans for fall and winter? I am in the process of painting my kitchen cabinets. My husband is working on some built-in cabinets in the dining room, so that is a work in progress for us. I am also trying to get more organized around the house--so any tips would be welcome! I'm starting to go through all of my kitchen clutter and will eliminate some of it.
I hope everyone had a great summer. I hope you will all show your fall decorating, if you do any. I am just getting started on mine.

Hello!!! I too have missed everyone here. My summer was lonely with Ashley being in Europe most of the time. Then I moved her into a one room apartment with no kitchen. Dave once again lost his job, laid off after 1.5 years. Hasn't worked since August 8. So we have been living on beans. He does start another job on Monday, but again driving 12 miles and at a pay cut again.
Fall decorating.....I haven't done any. I have thought about it. I need to paint my kitchen cupboards also because someone thougt it was okay to peel the paint around the knob. Ugg. I am thinking a soft gray to go with my turquise wall color.
I have so many things to do and get nothing done. I still love my new job, well almost 8 months new. But I never get everything all done and never will.
I need some motivation for when I come home from work to get things done. I need to do 1 thing at a time.
Have a great weekend everyone. Looking forward to hearing from everyone.

We went to Arizona to visit my sis and her family. It was great seeing them but the HEAT!!! Anyway it's always good to get back home. I'm gonna do some decorating on the front porch and I'm going to attempt to take a couple pics if I can remember how. The weather today was lovely here - sittin on the porch weather. I'm so glad it's cooler here so we can actually enjoy being outside. Maybe now that summer is over more people will post on the boards.

Our big thing this summer was moving my mom from her hometown two hours away down to be within a few miles of where we live. She is not at all happy about it, but in the past two years, she has had a heart attack, a broken hip, a broken arm, pneumonia, and a case of flu so severe she ended up in ICU for a week. Yeah, it was time! At 91, she is just going to have to cope with being reasonable in her living arrangement.
She has been in assisted living for a couple of years, so my project has been to try to clean out the house and get it ready to rent or sell. Hoping to have an estate sale in mid October. " So, between that and work, my summer pretty well passed by uneventfully. But then, I am a spring and fall kind of guy. That "sittin on the porch" weather gets me going much more than those 90 degree days I once enjoyed!

So great to see everyone posting!! I've really, really missed everyone. Maybe we can get some more posting going on here. Looks like we might have had a couple of new members sign up, but they never posted.
Mac, a soft gray sounds pretty with your turquoise walls. I love turquoise but just can't seem to fit it into my house and have it look good. I'm glad that you are still loving your new job. I hope something really good comes along for Dave, soon.
Linn, I'm sure all that heat out west made you very thankful to be back home! I saw your pics and love all your decorations. And I always appreciate when you post pics of your lovely porch.
Allen, I can sympathize about your mom. My mom isn't to that stage just yet--and she lives next door to me already, but I remember how hard it was to move my grandmother. I figure I will be just as stubborn if I live to be that age, LOL! I am with you--the fall weather makes me want to get some projects done around our place. In the summer, it is just too hot to do much.
