Southern CA is in the middle of a heat wave and is also on fire (literally)! We have at least 4 major fires still burning. Temps have been over a hundred for days. Today will hit at least 104, with the beaches being about 95! Yesterday Death Valley was 15 degrees cooler than Southern CA!!! We have never ever had heat like this in the middle of May. Winds are also crazy, which is not helping with the fires. We are expecting cool down starting on Sunday and into next week. Thank heavens. And of course in other parts of the country, the weather is just as weird. Colorado had snow??? One thing I am grateful for is that we recently had solar panels installed, so our electric bill for the air conditioning is almost nothing. We have run our AC 24/7, since it is still over 90 at 8 at night. How is the weather in your neck of the woods??

We had a bit of a warm spell with temps in the 70s and once even up to 80 here in Western Washington. Today we're back to the usual rain and cooler temps. We had record rainfall in April. Things are growing like crazy now, though. I remember how hot it used to get in May and June in southern CA, though not that hot that early, and not such an early fire season. What I always hated, living in the San Fernando Valley, was that when it got hot, the smog just hung over the valley like a cloud, and it hurt to breathe. I can't imagine what all that pollution did to my lungs when I was a kid. Good for you for installing solar panels. They're finally becoming affordable enough for homeowners to install. I know someone who has a huge RV with solar panels, and when she's out camping, they power pretty much all her accessories. She's very happy with them.

We have had a cool spring. Not a nice spring at all. We actually had frost on the ground the end of last week. Crazy. Seems like lots of rain. I can't believe that May is almost over. Today was nice, but I still wore a jacket.

They found out all the fires except one were arson! They had a total of 19 fires. Disgusting that anyone would do that!! We have solar panel, and golf cart batteries on our RV and we our completely self sufficient. We do not need power or a generator at all. I love that because we like to go remote and not end up in some rv park on a cement pad right next to everyone else. We are finally cooling down this week and are in the 70's today and up to the mid 80's by Memorial Day:)
