Our bichon, Maddie, left us last Thursday. Had she lived, she would have been sixteen this Friday. She was doing really well, despite loss of hearing and beginning cataracts, and she was still frisky enough, especially enjoying chasing after and playing with Norris, our Golden. She suddenly got really weak, barely able to stand. We took her to the vet who did a full lab workup, gave her an antibiotic injection, and a B-12 injection. But nothing worked. She got so weak we had to hold her up to potty, but she still knew enough to do that when we took her outside. We tried to feed her Ensure, as she stopped eating, but that was not successful either. We finally took her to the vet last week for the "final visit." I'll attach a pic of Maddie, Dixie, and Norris, just four days before Maddie died. She was a sweetheart to the end. I really miss her little personality. Big ol' hole in the family right now . . . Allen Attachments:

I'm so sorry about your poor dog. I'm glad she didn't suffer long, but I know how hard it must have been to let her go.

Allen I am so so sorry for the loss of your girl. Bichon's are the sweetest little dogs. So much personality in a tiny package. My heart goes out to you and your family. Will be holding you in my thoughts. Letting our pets go is the hardest thing ever. It is also a very brave and kind gesture allowing them to go in peace and be pain free. I am sure your sweet Maddie is running over the rainbow bridge and is young and spry once again. I will ask all my little ones who have passed to welcome her with open arms. Take care

I just saw this.
I am so sorry Allen. Our pets are just like another family member. She was one lucky dog to have been with you. I am sure you will greatly miss her.
