All this talk on tiny homes made me think how we will have to set up Ashley's little space for next year. It is going to be a 10 x 12 room with attached bath w/shower. End unit with 2 windows. This past year of sharing a large apartment with 3 guys has done her in. They were such pigs and thought it was her job to clean up after them.
The room has no kitchen. I am buying her a 2 door dorm size fridge with the freezer part in the top. A microwave and a hot plate. She has a toaster. She has 2 small bookcases that can be used as storage for a few pans, dishes, etc. The closet is a rod in the bathroom. She has a small area rug to use and a small desk/table. A twin bed will complement the seating area. The cost is $227 per month with a flat fee of $20 for utilities. No air conditioning. Internet will be $15 per month, and I will get a digital antenna for her tv so she can at least get a few local stations.
If anyone has any ideas on how to make the most of this room please share. As we are in the process of moving her stuff back home now, she is totally downsizing her stuff to the very minimal to take next year.
Her apt is on the second floor at the end, with a long balcony/walkway that goes across the front that everyone will use. I told her she will not be able to leave her curtains open because then people can see in the window, but maybe blinds could be used and angled up so they would see the ceiling. There is a window on the end that would not be accessible to anyone walking. I may have to buy one of those small window fans that has the 2 sets of blades. I told her she can not ever leave her window on the walkway open due to safety reasons.
Looking forward to hearing your ideas.
