I headed out to the thrift stores today and found some fun things. One was an old-fashioned student desk...perfect for a teacher! I was considering taking it off the two boards the feet are screwed to, but I'm not sure if the feet are too rusty for that. The other is a funky homemade shelf I found at Goodwill for $13.00. I couldn't resist it. It's all wood...real wood. I'm not sure what I'll do with it, but I'll find a place for it somewhere. I'll try to attach pictures. -- Shabbychick Attachments:

The old desk cleaned up pretty well with some Murphy's Oil Soap and a few squirts of Magic brand Cabinet and Wood Cleaner. I decided to leave the wood slats attached to the bottom of the desk. I'm attaching a picture. I bought the jointed teddy bear at the Goodwill the same day for less than three dollars. The lunch box is the same as the one I used to carry to school (and it cost me a pretty penny at the antique store, too), and the school books are some I've had for years. This turns out to be great way to display all my school stuff. Now I just need to add a slate. The metal chickens grazing under the desk were a birthday present from one of my friends. I think they look perfect there. Attachments:

Shabby what you did with the desk is adorable - love the teacher theme. Great job!

It looks great. I love the way you displayed. And yes-those old lunchboxes are a crazy price these days. Glad you were able to find one like you had when you were in school! Great finds!

Both are adorable. Love love love the little homemade shelf. It would be adorable with books on it and sitting next to the school desk:)
