Merry Christmas to all. I hope the weather, the oven, and the relatives all cooperate for you this year and that Santa is generous. I got myself an early Christmas present at the used cat lot. Here's a picture of my new cat, Beowulf. He's dark gray, 4.5 years old, and absolutely beautiful. I'm going to get him some kittens for company soon, but for right now, he's it. It's nice to have a pet in the house again. I've done all my shopping, and now I just have to get everything wrapped. Then I'll be ready for a glass of eggnog and a good book in front of the fireplace (with my cat nearby, of course). Attachments:

What a wonderful Christmas present. His Christmas wish came true.
A day late here, but I hope you and all my other friends here had a Merry Christmas and continue to enjoy the holiday season. Safe travels to everyone.
Enjoy your new kitty Shabby.

Good looking kitty. Great you could take him in. Looks like he is wasting no time making himself at home!

He's doing fine, Marie. He has settled right in. He's quite social, but he is starting to scratch at things and climb on things, so I'm having to keep an eye on him. For the most part, though, he's very mellow. I'm going to get those claw caps to put on him so he doesn't wreck my couch, and then I guess I'm going to have to fill up the spaces I don't want him jumping on until he gets the message. It's really nice to have the company again. He's a good kitty.

One of my daycare families just adopted 2 kittys, they tried those paw caps and said they would not stay on. They ended up having them declawed. I am sure he is just as happy that he has found a forever home.

When you get him some kitty friends, he will have more to do and maybe leave your things alone.
I've noticed that my cats seem to go in cycles of what they bother. My boy is the worst for scratching on furniture. He became bored with his scratching post and I removed it, but I'm thinking I may bring it back inside for him.
So glad Beowulf has a home with you:) I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures of him.

I had all three of my previous cats declawed, and they didn't seem any the worse for it. But when I adopted this cat, I signed a paper saying I wouldn't have him declawed. I'm not sure I know how they'd know one way or the other, but I'm going to try to honor the agreement. I can't imagine they wouldn't rather have him declawed than returned to the shelter yet again. Today I'm going to trim his nails and see how that goes. They're pretty darn sharp. I'm not really interested in covering all my furniture with crappy old blankets just to give him something to claw, either, so it's going to have to stop one way or the other.
