I think this'll have to be three separate posts to get all three of my pictures in. This is the project I've been working on pretty much the entire month of August. I had to rebuild part of the fence, and when I took that section of fence down I removed the large concrete pavers because they were ugly and because they were buckling. Then I found the tree roots which had grown into the yard and had to remove those. Nothing's ever as easy as it looks. Laying the new pavers was no picnic, either, and though you can't see it in the picture, they are not level, either. However, I am past caring. I think they look a lot better than the old ones did. I don't have any pictures yet of the retaining wall/garden I built on the other side of the fence in the neighbor's yard. I just got the plants into it yesterday. I'll try to get some pictures soon and post them for you. Here is the before picture. Attachments:

Thanks. I like it much better now, too. Next time, though, I'm calling the professionals.

The stripes are so cheery and the pavers look great - well done!

Thanks, Linn. I love that striped fence. It makes me smile every time I look outside.

Hey, Shabby. Somehow I missed this when you first posted. You have put in a lot of work! Makes me tired to look at it! Your results are outstanding. And don't call a "professional." You are a professional! And a job well done that you did yourself sure makes you feel better than another monthly payment to someone else! Allen

Thanks, Allen. I finally got a chance to sit out there with a glass of wine and my Kindle yesterday evening and just enjoy my "new" yard. It made the struggle worthwhile! My wounds are healing, and my carpal tunnel syndrome is easing, so I'm starting to feel a whole lot better about the whole experience.

Love it. It turned out great, shabby. You are going to enjoy that area so much. I love those pavers and the swing. I can see that it will be a perfect place for you to read.

Thanks, Rosemary. Now that summer is ending, I'm hoping to find some new cushions for the porch swing for a reasonable price. Something ate mine...probably a squirrel or a rat. I keep saying I'm going to make one, but I never really get around to it.
