Here are some pics of my favorite things that I found at thrift stores, garage sales, or created from found objects the school bell came out of the elementary school in panaca, the town next to us. It hung in the hall outside of the school office. We found it at a garage sale. The windmill came off in the wind and we repurposed it inside our house.

More favorites I found the needlepoint picture at our hospital thrift store. Our hospital has one doctor. It was built in the 1920's and it a rellly beautiful building. The tea towels were made by a lady in pioche, and I found the vintage pins all over and repurposed them into dresser knobs.

Wow, thanks for sharing the pictures. I love the windmill; what a great way to use it indoors. Those are great colors. What a hoot having a school bell. These days the "bell" is a tone coming out of the PA system in the classroom; I almost never hear a real school bell anymore. I kind of miss them. When I was a kid, we lived a block from the school, so when I was home sick I could hear the bell ring for recess and even the sound of the metal ring on the tetherball rope when the kids were playing. Those sounds really bring back memories.
I see you have a kid's school chair, too, on top of the blue trunk. Those make great little shelves for small items, don't they? I like your collection of luggage. I've been collecting it, too, to store things in the garage rather than using plastic totes. I have a trunk kind of like yours only smaller, I think. I love what you did with both the tea towels and the pins. How did you affix the pins to the knobs? Do you have any trouble with them falling off? It's a great way to use old jewelry. I've recently fallen in love with retro jewelry; I've been buying the same stuff I gave away without a thought when my mom died 25 years ago. I even bought a pair of clip on earrings that are as comfortable as pierced ones. They're light as a feather.
I'm anxious to start crafting again. I just finished the last paper for the class I am currently taking, so now I'm free (except for lesson planning and paper grading) until the end of June. I've got an old chair that needs painting...

Hi shabby I love the little towns here. The parks and schools are beautiful, even though they are small. Kids still play safely outside on the sidewalks and everyone waves. It is like traveling back in time 60 or so years! I normally use either super glue or clear epoxy to attach the vintage pins. Normally if the drawer pulls are flat I just attach them directly to the pull. That works best. If not, I have hubs attach a small piece of wood and than attach the pin to that. There are so many ways to use vintage jewelery. Old mirrors, both wall and hand, look great decorated with jewelery. I have also decorated lampshades. Large ones just around the border, but small ones all over. Picture frames, vanity tables, trinket boxes, etc. My friend takes old frames, puts a velvet backing and than does a Christmas tree out of old jewelery. She sells them like mad at christmas. Would be really cute for easter also. Think Faberge egg

These are from a small thrift store in town called Necessary Things. They have a lot of junk, but also some great treasures. You just have to look long and hard

Found at our little hospital thrift store I love the afghan. It works perfect as a table cover. I got the tea set that is on the table at the same thrift store.
