Ah, your pictures are lovely. Thanks for sharing. I am doing very little decorating this year. I'm blaming it on the kittens, and that is certainly part of it. I didn't want to put up a tree for them to climb and knock stuff off of. But also, I've just been overwhelmed lately. I'm trying to put laminate flooring in upstairs (with no help) and it's not going as well as I'd hoped. It's a lot of hard, physical work for me, and it's taxing my patience and my visual-spatial skills. I'm not enjoying it at all, and now my bedroom is stuffed full of items from the other room so I can put the flooring in the guest bedroom first. I took an extra day off for Thanksgiving vacation to try to work on this project, but it wasn't enough time. I had to pull up the rug, cut it into small pieces to get into my car to take to the dump, do all the other prep work for laying flooring, etc. Plus I'm just exhausted from my job. I will probably end up finishing this endeavor during my 2 week Xmas break from school, and I didn't want to worry about first decorating, then undecorating while I'm trying to install flooring. On top of that, I've got jury duty starting on the 29th of December, and then in January I'm starting an online Master's degree program in American history that is going to be a lot of work on top of my fulltime job and the extra tasks I take on (like journalism club to put out a monthly newspaper). I love to decorate, but this year it's just not in the cards.
The good news is that when I get my Master's degree (in something like 1.5 to 2 years) I'll get a 7-8,000 dollar a year raise in my salary, so it's worth the extra time and effort even if it's going to be a very stressful and exhausting couple of years. I'll post pics of the cats, the minimal Xmas decorations, and the floor when I get a chance.
I hope you all are gearing up for a fabulous holiday season.

Linn, those are some really pretty pictures. I'd LOVE to have that cabin. I've been trying to talk my husband into building a small one-room log cabin up on the hill behind our house, overlooking the large pond that we have. I think it would make a perfect weekend retreat without the trouble of having to drive anywhere, LOL!
Shabby, you sure have a full plate right now! I hear you on kittens being destructive to decorations. Our youngest cat is now 3, so she finally is (mostly) leaving the tree alone. Hope you can take a little break during your Christmas holiday weeks and enjoy yourself a little. Hoping all of your remodeling goes smoothly from here on out. I know it's a lot of work, but the American History courses will be so interesting for you!

Rose-mary the cabin pic is my idea of bliss! I love it! Shabby I hope you have a nice holiday in sprite of your heavy workload. I know how cats/kittens can be since we have a naughty boy named Henry. Even though he's no longer a kitten he still likes to mess with the tree but instead of trying to climb it he just leans into it and flattens the branches.

Linn, thanks for the pics -- very peaceful. And Rosemary, that idea of a one room cabin appeals to me. We have a family farm in northeast TN, about two hours from here, that we have never done anything with. That cabin thing is starting to sound like a plan!!
Merry Christmas to all!

Sounds like a fun thing for you and your wife, Allen. Good luck on the plan and keep us updated!
Merry Christmas to you, too, Allen. Please share any Christmas decorating pictures you have. We seem to be sparse on pictures on the forum this Christmas.
