This has been pretty this summer. But forecasters are saying frost and freeze this PM, so I expect it will be mostly gone by morning. Allen Attachments:

Oh, that's really pretty, Allen. I didn't know they'd grown on a vine like that. We had a frost warning last night, so I had to bring in a couple of the plants I want to keep through the winter. It's supposed to rain on Halloween this year. Looks like fall is really here. I hope your lovely vine survived the first frost.

Allen - Please excuse my ignorance but I've never heard of or seen a bottle tree! I'm assuming this is how yours was made (next paragraph), considering that I see the pretty blue bottles in your photo. Google also said there is a real tree by that name that grows in Australia...but I know you're not there!
A bottle tree is an artistic lawn or garden decoration made from round, rolled rods of metal (rebar) and empty glass bottles that can vary in size and color. The rolled, round bar is welded into the shape of a tree trunk and branches. Glass bottles are placed on the ends of each "branch" to act as the "leaves" of the tree.
Soooooo, did you make yours, yourself? The vine is absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for showing us - I have been enlightened! ;-)

Hey, CT. That's a pretty good definition of a bottle tree. No, I did not make mine. We got it at a craft fair. The bottles came from friends willing to donate to the cause, or from the Norris glass recycle center (a bit of ingenuity on my part fishing the blue ones out of the dumpster . . . but that's another story altogether). Assuming I can post a pic, I'll show you a shot of the bottle tree without the vine. Libby (wife) thought it would look better with the flowers. I guess it does at that. Allen Attachments:

Allen - After learning about bottle trees (tnx!) and seeing your photos...I can now affirm that I have seen everything!
Those blue bottles caught my eye, even with the vine wrapped around the tree - such a pretty cobalt blue color. It sure does sound like there's a good story about fishing them out of the dumpster! (Working to get them makes you appreciate them even more, I bet!)

Very pretty! The blue bottles look great! And I love Black-eyed Susan vines. I have one I keep in the house and then I usually grow them outside during the summer, too.
