Thanks Linn. Hubs and I really love it in northern nevada. We get 4 seasons, which I love. Since we are extremely rural it is so quiet and peaceful. Life for us has changed so much. I have a clothesline and hang all our clothes outside to dry. They smell so fresh. We have no fast food and only 2 small cafes, so I cook every meal fresh. Have lost 20 pounds! In calif we lived on fast food. This is so much better. We live so much simpler and enjoy each day. Have been exploring all the ghost towns and natural parks. We have 5 national parks surrounding us. In our county only 20% of the land is private. The rest is all blm/public lands. Wildlife is amazing. We have a huge population of wild horses. I will post some pics of the ghost towns and scenery soon.

VG - my hubby and I have looked online for nearby ghost towns to visit. I'm looking forward to your pics. Small town living isn't for everyone but for those of us who are drawn to rural life it's great! We have one grocery store, a couple gas stations one with a Subway, Mexican restaurant, pizza place and a ma & pa type diner. We are in a rural area also and love it here. I love all the critters and trees. I lived in Dallas for several years and don't miss it a bit. I'm from what used to be a small town in California and my hubby is from the Bay area. He's a city boy who has learned to love the country life. I personally think it's better for children to grown up in a small community if possible.

VG, it must be wonderful having all that space and so much protected land around you for wildlife. What wonderful views you have! I'll bet it's a great place to watch storms.
Thanks for sharing all the pictures. I really like what you're doing with the place. Is that your new tractor? That little hutch is amazing; it'll be so much fun to decorate as seasons change. I love the idea of a slower-paced life in a quieter environment. That's what I'd like for myself one day. Are you planning to plant a garden or anything? Do you get any wild edibles growing around you?

Hi shabby:) hubs is the gardener. He is going to start the seeds today. We have a huge 10x12 dog kennel that we are going to use as a greenhouse. I bought a cover for it on ebay and we are going to install it today. No natural edibles here, but the meat and fruit is amazing. Only 2 very small markets here. Next big market is about 100 miles away. But I love the 2 markets here. They empty your cart for you and take it out to your car! Prices are good, but you cannot get certain things. Bit I figure if you don't have it, you don't miss it. Hubs loves his tractor. Was expensive but worth it. We were able to spread our own gravel, can snowplow our property in winter, etc. He also graded the pad for our rv. I have had to get used to very small town living. Everyone knows your business, even before you do!!! It is also an extremely conservative and plain community. They still are not quite sure about me, but they will come around. they need a little bling and exposure to non-conservative lifestyles

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. It has been a rough few months. As they say, time eases the pain. I miss my dogs so much. And my sister, there were 7 girls in my family and now we are 6. It is hard to believe she is gone just a few days from turning 59. I am so happy to see everyone back here. I really missed you all and think about you all now and then. Vintage Girl.....Congratulations on your new home. It is really pretty and decorated so uniquely. You certainly have the knack. I have never been to Nevada. Your pictures remind me of western shows I have seen. Congratulations on your retirement too! How exciting. Shabby......My kids. As in years past....my son drives me crazy sometimes. He is now 27 and back home. Last May he packed 2 suitcases and said he was moving to Columbus, Ohio. About 6 weeks later, 1 day before he was to start a full-time job, someone turned left in front of him on his motorcycle and he went down. He broke his foot, cracked a couple ribs, and totaled out the motorcycle. He was extremely lucky he was not hurt worse. I did not find out for 1 1/2 weeks when mail from attorneys started coming to the house. Dave and I went down and brought him home as he was broke, no place to live, and out of work. We helped him out and he went back to work about 3 months later. He is working full-time about 10 miles from home as an LPN at a long term care center. I wish he would find a nice girl and eventually get married. My daughter graduated last May from Bowling Green State University. She is having trouble finding a job in her field. She is the Assistant Manager at Shoe Sensations in our town. She wants out of retail. Her dream job is Student Advisor for Study Abroad Programs. So far no luck. She has her boyfriend of 4 years in Texas. He graduated this May from college and he took the exam to get into medical school. She is waiting to see what the outcome of that is. I look for her to move this summer to Texas. Thank you for asking.
